Just replaced my HST, so I obviously had to change the trans fluid/filter. I added approx half of a 5gallon pail of SUDT and I'm not seeing anything on the stick. There rear tires are still off the tractor and it is not perfectly level, but close......what's the deal? Can I start it with the approx. 2.5 gals, which is what my manual calls for, or should I put a little more in until I'm getting a reading on the stick?

try lowering the 3 point hitch all the way. Sometimes the actual level won't show until I do this on mine.

How much came out? Before drain, I check level on stick. I then drain, measure how much came out, put that much back in, then check stick. Philip.

Mine used more than the manual states when I replaced the HST. I figure there's a good amount of holdup in the HST that a change wouldn't pull out but a replace does. I think I went nearly a gallon over what the manual states for a change.
