I am replacing some older tires on my dull axel 14000 lb. trailer. The current tires are a load rating G. I am told by two shops that you can no longer get G rated tires and you have to get F one step down. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks John Morrissey

They usually put E rated tires on a 14,000 pound trailer which are range from 3200-3400 pounds per tire at 80 psi (depending on the size and mfg.) Post the tire size and the load rating from the old tire for more info.

I have had good luck with Hancook tires that are 14 ply rating, in a 16 inch trailer tire. All of the ranchers down here run these because they are narrow and stout, which means less pull and better fit on trailers. They take 105 PSI. The dealers say they are rated for tubes but they all mount them tubeless. I have had many sets over the last 8 years. I think the max load is 3330 lbs. They are made in Korea, and I think the rating is g or h.
