Another approach to increasing U.S. manufacturing is to offer a ten year federal tax deferral to companies that build and operate new manufacturing plants. And a lot less collateral damage compared to tariffs.
I'm no economist, but I'd hope the smart people in charge are pulling on more than just one lever, to keep this train on the tracks.

You really think that’s where we are headed? 1929?
A smart and seasoned investor looks at facts and data. Doesn't listen to hysteria.

The decline in the past week is not anywhere similar to 1929. What was it-- 9%? That of course is unwanted and concerning, but nowhere near "1929." That involved a 23% loss, back-to-back, in two days. On the way to an 89% decline until it stabilized.

They won’t do that because of burdensome regulations. It takes forever to build a new plant in the USA.
Look at how many building permits have been issued after thousands of homes burned in the California wildfires.

I think it was only 2 as of Friday.

It’s certainly a much more direct way to affect activity than a tariff that may or may not have the intended outcome.

True. But last week was just the start. Let’s see what happens this coming week.

The vast majority of people people voted for it, especially on this site.. So the seed was sown. This is the crop. :)

If the tariffs are purely for economic reasons why has Russia not been hit with any tariffs? Especially since so many really tiny economies, even economies with no people at all, have been hit with tariffs.
