Yours looks a lot like one of mine. I first built this one for my 1990 F-150. 100% custom mount I made fit behind the bumper, I had to remove the license plate to expost the 2" receiver. I couldn't make it that slick on the F250 SD, sort of a big thing I had to add on but the 18 yo Ramsey winch still does it's thing.

The small winches are the HF $49 version, they work ok. I had to get the contactor elsewhere to make the system work like I wanted. My BIL how is an upholster made the covers.

Man, that looks like you and I were building them together. When a tractor gets stuck if you don't try to dig to China it only takes a little pull to get you out and it sure is nice to do. Before I set up the small winch I got stuck and met half my new neighbors while they tried to help me get out. We wound up sticking another tractor and two trucks before it was all over. That was the straw that broke it and I started on the winch project the next day.

If you tie a rope to the anchor at the pivot where the flukes meet the stock you can pull it out backwards fairly easily.

.
Yep - I usually remember that as the anchor sinks below the surface:eek:

Thanks guys.

I sent the customer an email with the links y'all provided and I think he's leaning to the Lewis winch.

I thought that pretty cool myself.

Another member here has a hydraulic winch mounted on his loader cross tube. Uses it for all kinds of things.

I remember a picture from a while back where a guy put a winch on the front and an A frame to make a crane. He was in the business of building metal buildings if I recall. It was mainly used to lift the red iron.

I have an 8000 lb hyd permanently mounted in my loader frame. It is absoulutely one of the most useful tools i have ever put on a tractor. I hardly ever use it to pull myself out, but for moving most anything it is great. Whether you have one that can be used in back or front, elec or hyd, you won't be disapointed. We all have our preferences for diferent reasons. Point is, if you put a winch on your rig, it will transform it.

Rob J , Da Bear;

I don't know who copied who but great minds think alike, both your setups a almost identicle to mine only thing different is I used a 10,000lb HF and my front is on top of the loader bucket since there was no clearance on my Kioti CK20 with the loader on. (I never take it off since its in constant use.)

Nice job evryone !!
