How long did it take you to dig to the point in the photos? Great photos by the way!

About 3 h but I worked alone so I had to drive and unload the trailer every 10 - 15 minutes so that took me half of that time.

Looking closely at that first pic it appears you have the FEL back on the tractor. What were you pulling the dump cart with? (any photos)

Yes that's a FEL. I have 3 tractors so I used the old Zetor 6711 to pull the trailer

Now that you have had some time using it is there anything you would have done differently. I know you put a lot of time in designing it and tweaking the plan as you went, I'm just curious what would be different if you were to build it again.

Nothing significant...maybe a bigger bucket because the machine plays with this one...and if I would have more $ I'd buy all new cylinders just to avoid all the work I had to do on those old ones

There's times I'd rather sit in the shade, sipping on a slurpee, and watch professionals fix my stuff. But alas, I don't have the money for that sort of stuff either. But there's something to be said for pride of workmanship and a job well done.

Read the background, he did have another backhoe but didn't like the setup. He made one the way he wanted it to be. Pretty awesome build.

Some times it is not only the need for it but also the feeling of building something by ourselves. I did a backhoe too, and it is great the feeling of seeing something that you build, working just the way you want. :thumbsup:
