Depends on how light the controls are. When they are quite heavy (no servo) i'd rather have them a little longer so it takes less force to move them, in precise digging you get cramped arms when you have to give too much force on them.

Some people like these new forklift trucks with 3cm electric control levers, but i hate them...

Very nice backhoe and the build thread is great. I find your work inspiring and I've referenced it a few times in conversation with friends. We all like to tinker and build stuff and it is always neat meeting others who do the same. I'm sure I've shared this thread with at least a dozen others.

I read the entire thread, and WOW! What a read. You did a very good job building your backhoe. The only thing I would change is the size. It seems a little bit big for the tractor.
Green Power - not as much as I would like to, but that's gonna change during the summer. Then I'll have alot more time for it.
Isaaccarlson, the size depended on the size of the cylinders, and I got them first, so everything else kinda grew around them.
There are a few places where it could be a bit lighter, but in general, I'm happy with it.

Bfreaky arent you overloading that trailer a bit ? It has only 5 stud wheels, and those axles with DIN 5 lug pattern generally run up to 2.5 ton, but you probably have double that on them... Or are these axles according to a former Soviet standard ?

Just an observation Gentleman....nothing meant by my comment so don't take offense..axles ? Control levers ? backhoe size ? This man has created a working piece of art..from imagination ,to drawings,to fabrication and bringing a huge BFREAKING ,awesome,beautiful,operational work of art to life

That is one serious piece of equipment.Congratulations on an amazing job.Some of the best craftsmanship I have seen.It almost seems a shame to get it dirty and scratched.

My guess is he could make a floating trailer or flying tractor.
He just doesn't want to show off.
If (I did say if) he makes a mechanical error, it's potentially just to give the rest of us hope.
