Top and Tilt l2501 DIY

Thanks for the info.

I did look at those Prince valves and couldn't find a 12v valve. And whilst I think it's a great idea those Prince valves are expensive enough, but I would have considered it if they had the 12v.

If the Bucher are more expensive I will forget going this way, especially seeing as I'm throwing darts as to if I even need another valve down the track.
They make 12v work sections, they are pricy though!

You can do multiple float valves on a sv stack. I have 2 floats on my 3spool stack for the remotes on my L3240.
Can they both work in float at the same time? What brand?

Here's the stack.

So I went and looked at the Busch valves and they are actually not that expensive when you look at what options it opens.

A 2 spool valve with PB plug and bracket is $471, which is a good $300 more than a generic 2 spool valve.

But adding a busch electric solenoid valve is $487. I know you need to add extra bits and pieces to that ie button joystick etc. Buying longer bolts to go this path is cheap at around $10-12 when you want to add another section to the busch stack.

To me it looks like you might come out ahead of a 2 spool plus separate 3rd function kit and the plumbing would be neater?

Is there anything I am missing here or does that sound correct?

I've changed my mind about having a 3 spool valve with 1 for a possible future grapple. From research the majority say it's a pain to take your hand off the joystick instead of just using a button.

Man it's hard to decide which way to jump...

I did find a link to this 3rd function kit on the orange forum, looks like a good buy.

I can attest that the Bucher valves are top notch. And if multiple floats are important to you, you can do that with the Bucher valves but not the Prince SV ones.
They do look nice. I didn't plan to have float on either of the valves. I will be grooming the trails around my 5 acre property which get beaten up from my buggy and 3 wheeler.

I was looking at getting this top link which has a double pilot check valve.

Which I thought in my use case would work as I figure I want my box blade to stay where I set it. My trail sections are short and tight with slope variations. I do not have a long driveway to maintain.

My understanding is a float valve will not work with the check valve?

And this was the side link I'm looking at, though need to check dimensions.

Again it has the check valve.

My last thoughts on this, I rarely use my side link (using the manual one stinks but it would work for what I need). I built my road down to my creek without it!

Since you have forks, you will most likely not have to use a grapple.

A toplink and a single spool is all you need with your box blade.

TBN is great to talk you into a $1500, 4 spool valve with several buttons!!! You also need to upgrade to a L6060... :ROFLMAO:

I agree, I never have had a need for hyd side link..

I had forks for well over a year before I purchased my grapple and my forks are now seldomly used. Trying to balance logs or brush on forks was a real PITA. The grapple was probably the best investment I ever made for my tractor with the exception of the hyd top link.

I had top and tilt on my old B2620, it was a nice feature as I had to maintain the road in front of my house.

I have thought about adding a side link for my L2340, but since I no longer have a road to grade I haven't gotten around to it.

My rear blade has hyd tilt anyways, so it's not as much of a necessity.

If you do a lot of road grading with a box blade the side link comes in handy, especially when you have to maintain a crown and you can only grade downhill due to traction! Constant changing of box angle.

Ha ha...too true. My l2501 is overkill for 5 acres by some opinions but I wouldn't be without it. She actually strains a little picking up a IBC tote full of wet red oak.

I do want to get a 2 spool for the side link also. There are areas, especially the corners of my track where the dirt gets thrown to the outside edge and starts building a bank. The side link adjustment will be perfect for this.

Grapples definitely make the task a little quicker and if I would really get the use out of one I would get it.

The forks work great for my usage. I don't have that much brush etc to worry about. I cut down pine trees and throw them in my pigs yard as they love stripping the bark and needles. Then I throw them back over the fence so they all lie together. Then it's easy to come and grab them with my forks. When I collect any other brush I just park up and get off and throw it all on the forks. Good exercise. And I also use it as a personal challenge to see how much I can pick up with 1 grab.

I also have a pretty good system for bucking trees and I throw the rounds into an ibc tote/cage and then once full take that to my splitter.

I would love to get a grapple to just ride around and pick crap up and move it :ROFLMAO: and 1 day I might.

Yes... I actually first had my heart set on a L4600. So big and mean looking, but that was definitely overkill for my usage.

Until you get a grapple, you will never understand how much and for what all it can be used for. It's like having a big hand on your tractor.

I cut an immense amount of wood as I use and sell it. I will grab logs with the grapple, or drag them out if they're too long, and take them to the splitter. I then buck them up while holding them with the grapple.. Makes so fast work of the entire process. Once the pile gets large enough, I have my 15 year old twin boys stack it all.

I understand the uses, and in my current situation there isn't a great enough need.
