I believe it is called a pin puller but my father-in-law said they call it a DOG D---. hook the open end over the head of a pin then the pry bar would grab the humps on the handle and pull the pin. used on the rail road.

Okay. I don't think I have ever seen one before.

You must have had only female dogs. They show up at the dangest times, like when guests come over. :confused3:

I ran a jumping jack compacter a bit smaller than that, it was an excellent way to knock your own teeth out.

The only thing scary about a radial arm Saw is using it for ripping.

B. John

Yep, found that out pretty quickly. I have been using my radial arm now for decades and it is great for crosscutting, especially long and wide stock, but like you said, it really really sucks for ripping.

I still have my dad's old Craftsman 10in radial circa 1964 I'm guessing. Haven't used it in years but can't seem to part with it. On a nice matching tool chest stand. We built a cabin with that thing, and no table saw. Yep... ripping was scary as all heck! Way too easy to bind and a wide rip was the worst. Also have the molding and dado blades. Once I got my own table saw, the radial was relegated to only crosscutting of long pieces. When I got my miter saw, it became a waste of space!

Wiha has some good cutters and pliers. I still like my Knipex cutters best.

I read some folks who were really enamored with the Knipex pliers (in the Rounded Drain Plug thread) so I picked up a pair of their Cobra locking pliers a while back. I can't figure out how it get it to lock. Seems just like a normal set of slip-jaw pliers to me. They look well made though and I like the way they adjust.
