Tool **** Friday.

Speaking of (apparently) re-inventing the wheel [yes, I know, nobody did... however]:

Back in my Navy days I had a 9" metal marlin spike in my "guns" (urp) plus a medium adjustable crescent wrench that was flopping around and wondered if a shipwright tiffy could cut & weld the top of the wrench to the top of the spike. I realised that they were two different types of metals but there was no harm in asking. ( a few beers and the challenge was the cost). Well, the tiffy was successful and I've still got that combined tool, which I dubbed the "Unholy Alliance".

I recently found out that this tool actually exists and is called a "Spud Wrench". :cool2: That's mine beside the 'urp'.

As I said this is my favorite tool, of ALL Tools. It was made by UTICA. Duckbill Pliers. You can't buy them any more. Anywhere: Not as exact or as well made as this one. Copies are not the same. This one tool has made me, saved me, more money then its cost a thousand times over. And its just a little hand tool. :)

Knipex makes'em. Top quality too.

Back in the day the dunny was often referred to as the dike.
Then we'd have a parade of big burly girls ,some bare breasted, on Harleys. The parade was known as 'Dikes on Bikes'.

Hmmmm... proper trigger discipline and safety engaged. Nice.

Actually the safety does not look engaged but is it instead in the ready-to-fire position? That's what I get for not looking at the T&A ... :D

Now you're teetering on the edge... I remember an old grade school story about the way a boy stopped a leak in the dike.

Now we have "after **** ends" up top... presumably that means that your wife just walked in?

So's you don't misunderstand; I'd NEVER use the word "Dyke" to refer to a lesbian. Any more than I'd use the "N" word (ending in either an a or r) to refer to a black person. It sounds and conotates ugly.

But I'm not watching what I say to be PC. When I need the dikes I ask my wife or whoever I'm working with if they have/saw them.

As soon as I can I'll post pictures of my unusual tools.

I致e only heard the term dikes referred to as cutters and water walls. I personally call them side cutters or nippers. I致e had Klein, Channellock, and dozens of other cheaper pairs. My 10 Knipex cutters are hands down the best.

I learned tools from my father. a veteran of the Pacific and an all around Marine and self-taught handyman. So I call the tools as he did. What you'll are calling ChannelLocks he called "Gas Pliers". An adjustable was a "monkey wrench". He called a long handle axe "ankle biter" and the hand-held ax "finger chopper". A utility knife was a "hand cutter". And he never used derogatory terms referring to any ethnic group; except the Irish. And since he was born and bred on the ol sod I guess he felt he had the right.

I was referring to Channellock as the brand of side cutters. I call what you called gas pliers as slip joint pliers.

Not a bad buy for $250.
I don稚 use mine as often now that I have a 禅imesaver HD37, but certainly not about to give it up.
Nice collection of Powermatic equipment BTW. Most of my Powermatic stuff is from the dark green with the white racing stripe generation.

Funny that some are offended by the title of this thread when TBN is considered "Tractor ****"!

Whenever my computer acts up, my colleagues in the maintenance shop blame it on all the Tractor **** that I'm viewing. I spend time on TBN, Orange Tractor Talk, and some IH lovers groups when I'm on lunch break, hence the claim that I'm viewing Tractor ****.

None of my saved photos have people in them! Just tractor pictures!
