The guy we buy our horse hay from delivered two 14 bale bundles this morning:

Picked up one with the V417 and Monster Grapple:

Put it on the dolly:

Picked up the second bundle:

Took it in and set it on top of the first bundle, but I got distracted and did not get a picture.

Here are both bundles on the dolly, tarped to keep the bird poop off of the hay:

I had never seen those bundles until a few months ago. Have they been around long? Those which I have seen are made up of nice, tight, well prepared bales of hay. šŸ‘

They have been around longer than we have been using them. Here is a previous Post with 21 bale bundles: Hay Bale Bundle

The guy we buy from now does 14 bale bundles and delivers them on a truck with a small dump bed

Spent 30 minutes moving slush from my driveway. I’m glad I partly finish fabricating a cab as it was raining. View attachment 2088419

I like the looks of that cab !! Are you planning to put windows in it or stick with the plastic. Any cab is better than no cab in that weather. I have a plywood roof over me but wide open sides. Just finished plowing about 3" of fluff off a mile long road I take care of. Things are froze up solid again and I was able to push the banks all the way back. It's 10* F here now. Below 0* tonight they say.

Spent an hour or so in the nice warm cab moving just a couple of inches of snow. Ran the back blade backwards on it to sweep dome off and stir up a bit of gravel, and hopefully allow it to freeze without icing. For some reason I didn't get any after pictures, not sure of what happened.
Pulling with the blade reversed

I sat on the tractor and thought about doing something for a few minutes. Then I got the keys to the Cobra, remembering it needed running, and got about 50 miles of back country road driving done . Washed it and put it away. The tractor can wait. It was a sunny 73Āŗ today. Feels like Christmas in southern CA.

That must have been rough but sometimes sacrifices have to be made! 😁

Yesterday was the final phase of Leaf Rodeo 2024. This is a tag-team event involving leaf pickup with the CC Ultima ZTXS5 54 (could CC make that name a little longer, please?) and the JD 2520 with the carryall box on the front. I can empty the bagger about 8 times before the box is full, so it holds about 80 bushels.

After leaves are collected and transferred to the box, the box goes to the compost pile.

Final results.

Went back to OK for Christmas. Weather was great...helped my son rerun fence, rehang a couple of gates, clean out "the scary barn", clean out his garage, burn off a big cockle-burr patch and we even found time to break for a bowl game...

To quote Yellowstone "...There's always something to do on the ranch..." Taking vacations from retirement is over rated!!!

Good thing our grandaughter was here to make up for doing all the work

Made an addition to the compost pile yesterday.

After that, switched over to snow-duty mode by dropping the chipper and adding the rear blade. Parked machine in heated shop and brought in the tire chains which I will install today. Forecast is for 7 to 14 inches snow over next 48 hours....

This could get interesting.

I was pleasntly surprised. Just for sh**s and giggles I tried to start my TC45. Hasn't been run in about a week. 24 degrees and a very old battery.
Turned over a few times and fired right up :)

Here in the STL area they can't seem to decide what we'll get ... rain/freezing rain/sleet/snow/locusts. Whatever it is, it'll surely be the end of days for us, though, as reported.

And the people act like it.... šŸ™ƒ
I made sure the water tower was full, hay by the cattle and wood rack by the house was topped off.
We'll see what challenges the morning brings.

I finally completed building the new roof cover for the well pump pit, building it in the barn. I used the MX loader to carry it and set it in place. Also to haul off the old rotted cover that went to the dump today. Just in time since I start back to work Monday after two weeks of vacation.
