to blow or to plow?

I blow and plow. Small snow I plow. Much faster, protection of a trip edge and cleans down to the ground better as I don't have to worry about rocks getting in the blower.

Big snow makes big banks when plowing. Big banks mean big snow drifts. Snowblower tosses it up and away, albeit slowly.

Most of my snow clearing is for driveways 0.5 to 1 km long.

I went with both blower and blade. Both are needed in differant areas and works great for me.

Hey 4shorts...with a nice setup like that, your probably get calls from Dave Powell to clear his parking lots.

I have both, front plow and rear blower.
Here we measure in feet, but often get inches as well.
(Actually thats in MM's and meters.)
Plow for the smaller events to gather it up into a single blower pass and the blower for the major events (like 10"-16")
The 2 foot+ dumpings are the challanging ones, but my cab is heated and I am retired.

I did the snow removal for the ICBM missile site for 6 years in North Dakota (along with other things)


I live in Nd and like Sackett2 said there can be mountains

Usually not more than 6 ft of snow during the winter here BUT it can snow in October and be here in April. and if you have never experienced wind and drifting on a flat prairie its something to behold. Believe it or not but a telephone pole here can cause a drift.
Last winter we had a lot of snow I clean for a few small apt. buildings the last few years there have been a lot of guys undercutting prices using pickups and plows. They met their match this year I lost an account with 3 buildings this past year as they gave them a 15 dollar per time cut on mine.
The problem they had was it cost the owner of the property more to have the piles hauled away twice than they payed total for the snow cleaning.
Needless to say I have that account back now

like it has been said its all revalant to where you live

I think the highway dept here spent more $$$ to blow off the shoulders after the ditches filled

and have Cats come in and move the snow out of the ditches to the fence lines
