Tire Valve

I have water filled 12.4-24 AGs on my L285 Kubota. On of them is slowly leaking air and water around the valve stem. I don't know the name for the part, but it's like a nut holding the stem tight against rim? It's plastic nut with a crack. Is that the reason it's leaking, or is it an unrelated piece? I know it's a dumb question, but ...

Attached is a picture of what I mean.




If it's caused by that cracked part, what's it called, so can get a new one.

The valve stem should be replaced. Don't think you can just get the nut.

Is it a "Presta valve nut"? I've never heard of a Presta valve

It's leaking around the base of the valve stem, not the core. It's pretty slow, maybe go from 35 psi to 20 in a week.

The plastic nut comes with the tube to hold the stem in when installing the tube. If it is leaking around the stem you have a hole in the tube.

Hole in the tube is the correct answer. Remove wheel. Deflate tire. Remove from rim. Patch tube. Reassemble. Of course if you want water back in it I'd go to a tire shop.

Ok, that helps. Tube it's self has leak, and air/water is moving inside the tire till it gets to path of least resistance. Makes sense, thanks.

All, I am sure someone will find an exemption, car, truck, ag, motorcycle tire valves are schrader. Mid to higher end bicycles use presta valves. Presta are smaller in diameter and lighter than schrader valves.
