building tire chains for my son tractor tire size 18.4x34 how many side links and length of cross links thanks wob

Your going to want to have the cross chains extend over the side walls a couple of inches at least. I'd go for 4-6 inches past on each side. . Then measure the diameter of the tire minus the cross chains and multiply by 3.14. Always go longer as you can cut them back if too long.
