Hi folks,
I recently tipped over my brand new JD1023e (dumb). It was on its side for about 5 minutes. When I picked it up I waited for about five minutes before I restarted it. It started fine but there was a fair bit of blue smoke. When the tractor starts it makes a fair bit of blue smoke but it burns off after a couple of minutes. When I open it up to full power it produces more blues smoke and kind of sputters a bit. I went to the JD dealership and he told me that you never restart a diesel engine when it has been on it side for any time. He said I should have waited a day (being a neophyte I didn't know this info). He claims I could have created hydro lock and damaged something. I already replaced the air filter and this did not help, but when I remove the intake hose to the air filter it does not smoke. There does not seem to be any loss in power. My question is, will this smoke burn off in time or should I take it in to have it inspected? If it is my fault I probably will have to pay for the repairs... ouch?
Thanks for the help
