I have narrowed my choices down to NH TC-30 HST and Kubota 2630/3030 HSD. I see a lot of incentive financing for both in the month of September, mainly 0% type deals for 36 months, and 4.99 for 60 months arrangements, with the incentives advertised to end 9/30.

Both NH and Kubota have labled their campaigns as Spring business. Historically, when has been the best time to purchase, more toward end of year, or now, or wait and see, or just try to negotiate the best deal. Would like tractor no later than Thanksgiving. Both dealers appear to be dedicated to their service and up front, and both want my business. I just need to get a better feel for when the optimum purchase time is, best for pricing and incentives.

This is my first larger than a garden size tractor purchase, have a new home, and want to make sure I am going about it in the right way, not a "yuppie farmer" either, but that's probably debateable also. I have a pasture of 3 acres, four stall barn and 5 acres of mowable grass (which I use my eXmark Lazer XS, 72" deck on)

Will be using tractor and attachments for pasture work, getting a FEL, tiller, front mount snow blower, and rear mount mower.

Please let me know about your purchase experiences, would appreciate it.

Thanks.

At least in my area, there is no real big 'seasonal' drop-of of tractor sales, as there is with yard equipment.

For instance.. you want a lawn mower... buy it right before winter.. places will wheel and deal with you.

I think tractor sales may 'slow' a bit due to less grounds maintenance.. however they simply don't drop off.

As it heads to that minor drop off.. you might squeeze a deal or two from a dealer wanting to move equipment that has been holding his asphalt down all year. Also.. when the new models arive.. some dealers may want to move last years model at a very small price decrease, same with low hour returns, demo models, and rentals... and/or trades. etc.

Best time to buy is: when you need it, want it, and can negotiate a good price for the features you want, from a good dealer. Financing incentives never hurt either!

One time of the year when I find I have more leverage over a dealer is just before they have to declare inventory for tax purposes. But then you're at the mercy of what they happen to have in stock. Also, must experienced dealers let their inventories run down a bit as peak season draws to a close. Even manufacturers are aware of the need to lower inventories before slow times. Still, you might find a dealer somewhere that has what you want, and needs to move it or pay taxes on it.

The dealers I work with seem to be willing to make a deal anytime of the year, ESPECIALLY during busy season, as their inventories are usually high. They want to move "units".

my feeling is with everything going on, price of steel, labor, transport, possible shortages of raw materials, and weather, prices and interest can only go up. i just bought the 3030.

I am not sure if there is any better time to buy, really depends on the dealer and his inventory. I would just make the best deal you can WHEN YOU WANT THE TRACTOR. . who knows 2 months from now they may be higher priced. I personally would buy now, as i see the cost of energy , doing nothing but increase the cost of all products! Just MHO
