THROTTLE CABLE FROZE

/ THROTTLE CABLE FROZE #21
My throttle cable is attached to my carburetor. I don't know if you have a carb or fuel injection. You might be able to disconnect the throttle cable from that and then see of it moves freely. That would eliminate the cable as the culprit, I'd think.

It's carbuarated. I placed it in garage and probably will keep it in garage from now on. It's not heated, but can get to 35-40 degrees when it is -30 outside.

If a cable seems froze but won't free up after being warm, current may have melted the inner liner. I have seen a defective block heater be the culprit of melted cable liners in the past. Just something to look out for.

Mine has frozen from water getting into the cable. Once thawed, it works properly. I bought the cable lube setup a few years ago and have found that is a significant help.

I use something that clamps on the end of the cable and you spray lube into it and it gets forced through to the other end. Used the same on motorcycles, back in the day. BTW where does the term dethaw come from?

Yes, thaw, dethaw. Flammable, inflammable. Hot water heater, water heater. :confused3:
