Thought I had a Lemon instead of an Orange

I think it's just a byproduct of the way it works. It's just a valve on the side of the cylinder fluid flows out of when the hitch is lowering - keep it from flowing out very fast and the hitch lowers slowly. However if you block it completely, you can't get the fluid back in to raise it again, either. The reason it doesn't slow the raising of the implement is that it isn't designed to. But when it's cut completely off, no fluid at all can get in.

The heat gets bad here in the summer time, but I've spent a few months in Eastern Virginia; Quantico in '86 and Virginia Beach in '92, and the humidity is worse there and makes the heat even less bearable.

Yeah, so you know what it's like. I was in Phoenix a couple years ago, and the folks there were saying how they bet I'd never seen it get to 105 degrees and wondering if I could handle it ok. I'd take that any day over what we've had the past few days. The humidity is so bad you have to wear sunglasses to even see. You get glare off the air, if you know what I mean. It gives new meaning to the term "haze". Just plain miserable. Period.

Your right on the money, if it can't get in it can't get out. Pretty simple once you think about it.

My 2710 does the same as Bird does when tighting the knob all the way down. I found this out the hard way and in the same vein as some of the other post. Right after our company bought the tractor I was messing with it then forgot about it till we attached the box blade. Went to use it and nothing. Took a while for me to figure it out but suddenly the light bulb came on and I remembered what I had been playing with before. I have loved reading these string of post. Makes me not feel quite so bad for some of my glaring blunders. No I am not going to list all of them. Although I will say my wife can tell how bad a day I have had by how red my forehead is from slapping myself.

Another P.S. I should have said that my 2710 wouldn't raise or lower with the valve tightened all the way down

Ray,
With me it was the shear pin on the bush hog. I had just had my brand new Kubota 4700 delivered and off I went, mowing the pasture. After a little while I noticed that I wasn't cutting anything. Apparently, I had hit a rock and broken off the shear pin. I didn't know that the cutter even had a shear pin! Anyway, I called the dealer and complained the cutter wasn't working anymore. After a few questions he figured out what the problem was and told me that extra pins had been included in the little tool box behind the seat. I then went through two more pins in about 15 minutes because I wasn't tightening the nuts enough to keep the pin from shearing from vibration. Anyway, I finally learned and haven't broken one in a while. However, I've only got about 27 hours on my Kubota so far and still have an occasional goof now and then!
