Third function valve kit?

'Trying to decide whether to purchase a third function valve kit (to open/close the new grapple) or whether to run a pair of hydraulic lines to the rear and use the rear control which is right beside the joy stick.

I would like to hear from any of you who have faced this, which way you went, and how it worked out. It would obviously be cheaper to run the lines to the back, but if that's a terrible idea, I would reluctantly spend the $$ for the kit. Thanks.

I also thought the same thing(have not installed a grapple or nething up front yet i have no first hand experience).
I would see no reason why it would not work so long as you properly route your hydraulic lines(out of harms way AND away from you in case of BURST).
I'd say convenience and cost will lead me in the same direction when my 5530shows up when I build a grapple for it.

Follow up: I skipped the 3rd function valve kit and everything works just great with the hoses to the rear and using the nearby rear control.

Glad to hear. We've set a couple up this way... the LS subframe makes a good spot to tie down and protect those lines. Out of curiosity, what grapple are you using? Dual or single grapple? Can you post pics? We've been looking at a few different models to stock and would appreciate any review you can share.

Ya, and I'd like to see the set-up you used. What hoses and sizes?

Two 3/8" hoses to a pair of the rear plug in's, works great. Each hose was 19' long, locally fabricated.
