Where do I begin.....
Something a little different here. I was bush hogging in three different fields today and found three different items of value laying in the grass/weeds. Just happened to look down at the exact right moment.

1st field. 10 acres. Mowing with the Deere 6430/15' batwing. Grass about 10" tall. Someone had been riding a 4-wheeler around the day before and had the grass matted down in one area. I looked down to see what looked like a cell phone. Sure enough! An AT&T Blackberry. Been rained on and the screen is fogged. Someone is probably bummed.

Next field. 15-1/2 acres, mowing with same tractor. Look down as I'm pulling into the field to see something laying in the weeds. A Garmin GPS locator. Looks to be OK. I THINK I know who it might belong to. Gonna call 'em monday. (Real estate agent handling the sale of this property)

So, I get done, go home, and decide to mow a couple acres on my place. The wind last night knocked down a couple limbs. I'm mowing with my trusty ol' Massey Ferguson. I jump off, drag the limbs out of the way, and get back on the tractor. A couple rounds later, I see something else laying in the grass. Hmmmm. Who's been on my property? I jump off, walk over and find A WALLET..... MINE..... It fell out while I was moving the limbs. If I wouldn't have seen it, next pass, it would have been Bush Hog fodder.

So. Anyone ever find anything of consequence while out tractorin'?

Great finds, especially your own Fwj. I haven't found anything so valuable but did have a "moment" several years back. We had just bought our 10 acres and I got the tractor (the real reason for the property). I borrowed a disc from a friend and ran the entire property to ease the furrows from previous planting. Felt really bad after the initial passes as the disc lost a rather large chunk from one of the blades. On the other hand, this was a pretty old, poorly maintained, well rusted piece of machinery. The next day, I repeated the task running at 45 degree angles to the initial passes. Lo and behold, what do I see but that chunk of disc blade. I returned it, along with the disc to my friend. I did offer to replace, and help him bring the unit back to a suitable level of functionality but he seemed to have no interest in that.

Other than that, I have a large pile of incredibly rare fieldstones that I will gladly sell to the high bidder.

When I was about 12 years old a friend and I were messing around on some sand dunes near Lake Erie. We found a couple bones and took them back to his dad, a doctor, he said they looked human. We called the mounties and they sent someone out, it seems we stumbled on an old indian burial ground.

I have a cup holder on my tractor that I use to hold a can of my favorite beverage. Occasionally, I will see a can in my yard while bushogging and silently curse out the person who threw it there, until I look in my cupholder and see that mine is no longer there.

I have never lost a wallet, but about 9 years ago, I spent the day baling hay and at the end of the day, I discovered my wallet missing from my hip pocket. Of course, I figured it was going to be in one of those bales of hay and I'd never see it again. Sure was a sickening feeling and figured I'd have to call and cancel credit cards, etc. the next morning. So I headed for home; had about a mile of just a trail back to the road and about halfway back, I saw my wallet lying in the trail. Talk about one happy fellow. It had to have fallen out on the way to the field that morning.

FWJ,
Your luck runs a little better than ours. We were running a bat wing at the deer camp last year and found (what was left of) a class III quick hitch with the center blade. Yup you can imagine what happened from there.

Well your finds are better than mine. I have a hayfield with that has a hiway on one side with a large curve on the top edge heading up a steep hill. Besides all the usual trash and the occasional car or truck that misses the curve causing some nice fence damage.:( I have several times found trailer tires/rims. Usually the common boat or travel trailer sizes, but once a full set of duals(hub and all) off of a semi trailer. The smaller tires only seem to make it 50' or so past the fence, but the duals made to about 100 yards, crossing a gas well road and gully before stopping. I'm sure glad I wasn't in their way when they came thru.

Hello folks,

We got hit by lightning about 2 months ago and just this week got the computer satellite and computer boards fixed. I love reading the material posted on this site. That is a long time to go without reading your adventures.

Today while moving round bales I found a flattened party balloon (big one with tassles). I live about 100 miles from anywhere. I wonder if it flew up from some big town to the south of us?

When I was a kid, I would culivate corn at about 3 miles an hour for days. I have a bunch of arrowheads that I would find as I watched the 8 rows go by.

Thanks for your inputs. I love to read about it.

Thanks,

Two things I put in my latched tool box when I use my tractors, my wallet and my cell phone. I have a nice velcro holder for mine that will get mounted to my main tractor, will hold the phone where I can see the screen if I get a call. Cheers Mike

All I've found in my field is a broken pair of sunglasses and a big old paver brick. The brick makes a great doorstop in my shop.
