It has AR400 where it counts. You can see the pinkish/orange tinge to it.
Everything that moves is greasable.
Non-directional serrations for gripping & ripping.
Removable runners go in between the tines for gauging depth. These will also prevent bending the tines for tractors in the upper range of recommendation.

I have this clamshell style but it's a big, 600-plus pounder by WRLong. Once, I had to drive the tractor to a job site and I needed both the grapple and a bucket for the job. I mounted the grapple and carried the bucket clamped in the grapple with the grapple fully curled for stability. While driving thru an intersection, the tractor bounced enough that one end of the bucket dropped down enough to drag the pavement. I don't think that would happen if the grapple would curl further, and besides, it uncurls WAY more than any useful position. Seems like they could orient the attachment mechanism to bias the range of motion in the curl direction so I could get the tines further under the load.

I think your teeth make the best of a limited curl situation but probably more on wood rather than steel, rocks, and concrete. And hauling multiple logs would be more secure with more curl.

I can visualize exactly what you're talking about, especially knowing the grapple you have, which has little to no outward curl of the bottom tines.

Here's a pic of the BX version of this new ultra light grapple rake. It curls back all the way to the loader cylinder, which required some sorcery when routing the hoses!

I can visualize exactly what you're talking about, especially knowing the grapple you have, which has little to no outward curl of the bottom tines.

Here's a pic of the BX version of this new ultra light grapple rake. It curls back all the way to the loader cylinder, which required some sorcery when routing the hoses!

Yep, that's the idea but your semi-finished prototype doesn't appear to have as much concavity as this finished model.

And while you can't increase curl any further than fully retracting the cylinder, (all other things equal) you CAN move the bottom pivot point forward, i.e., reorient the attachment mechanism.

What size tractor are you recommending? Price range?

Right now, we're thinking 40+HP as of now. L6060 testing will tell the tale and seal the deal.
Ted and I haven't talked about price much, but $1,500-$1,600 may be close.
