Here is the first coat of Drylock:

And here is what a corner looks like painted on one side;

I think the seams will show through a bit, but I am ok with that since it is "just a basement". I have to say the 2" insulation has made a huge difference in my capability to heat fromt he basement. The first cold snap took us down to 26 degrees. I fired up the stove and had the house from 62 to 71.9 in a little over 6 hrs! The highest temps I could reach last winter was about 65/66, so this is quite dramatic. I also used less wood to maintain that temp, so I am looking forward to aol man winter...bring it:mischievous:

Ok, more news, I am relieved, but sorry to lose them. The two red oaks I built the porch & deck roof around....we took them down since they were hitting the roof in storms. I feel like I put it off as long as I could, but with winter on the way I was worried about the damage they could do so I asked a friend/neighbor/logger to come cut them. I still have way too much to learn to risk cutting two 18" oak trees that are 5" away from the house....he made it look easy and dropped them exactly where he wanted....no ropes.

If I had only scooted the house back about a foot, they could have stayed and were still quite healthy even though the lower 3' of trunk was covered with backfill. They won't go to waste, I bought a 12K winch at HF the other day just so I can recover them from down the hill and make them into firewood. Also, the porch view/feeling is opened up a bit....which will take some getting used to.

you got to do what you got to do

I thought that you would make something out of those trees not just firewood

Like a quarter sawed kitchen table?

Possibly, but I think I want to build one out of Walnut, not Red Oak.

just looking at all the wood uses you come up with it would be a shame to see it go to firewood

just saying you my friend are quite the craftsman

Looks great! I'd like to know how much more temperate it is in the basement now with the added insulation?

The wall looks good, I like Sherwin Williams products, what is the color?

How did your house flip turn out?

Kyle, just regular tems seem to be the same. When the wood stove is going that's when the difference is huge.

Dave, It's SW7740 Messenger Bag...odd name ain't it?

Oh, and the trees went just in time, we had gusts to 38mph last night:thumbsup:
