The dreaded TWINE ATTACK!!

Its all my fault...

I told my daughter about the damage that twine can cause to equipment.

Of course, the next time she goes to use the tractor, one of the front wheels has a twine wreath. It happened at night, I had not seen it.

It got the seal, which is now weeping fluid.

How bad is a seal change job?

I changed the wheel and the lower steering seal on my 4100.

I had a slow leak and the hours on the machine were such that I wanted to change the front gear lube anyway.

It wasn't so big of a job, except I stupidly put things back together in slightly the wrong order which was close enough to go back together, but was just a bit too tight on the mesh of the upper bevel gears. It took me three trys to get it back right again before I realized my confusion.

Just actually pay attention to the exploded view during re-assembly and it won't be tough at all.

Hardest part is lifting the wheel gearcase up into position and engaging it while getting the first bolt in to hold it.

two days later I receive a package.

1 seal

1 "c" clip (also known by many other names... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

1 tube of special silicone sealer

1 exploded diagram showing the repair

Obviously this dealer isn't too big for his britches!!!
