Got to see them for a few songs in '88 when they headlined the Monsters of Rock at Rice Stadium in Houston. All day event in the sweltering August heat so we left early during their set.

Quite close? They were married for 26 years!

Valerie was on some talk show where the host made a reference to her squeaky clean image or something similar. She disagreed and made her point by saying, "Look who I married".

There are only a small handful of people who have fundamentally changed the way the electric guitar is played. EVH was definitely one of them.

Valerie Bertinelli, who met and married guitarist Eddie Van Halen when she was still starring in the sitcom One Day at a Time, says she and the ex-couple's son Wolfgang were among those with the rock great when he died Tuesday.

Also reportedly at Van Halen's side were his wife Janie and brother and bandmate Alex.

The actress and the rock star married in 1981, separated in 2001 and divorced six years later but remained close. Van Halen reportedly attended Bertinelli's 2011 wedding to financial planner Tom Vitale. In response to Wolf Van Halenç—´ announcement Tuesday about the passing of his father, Bertinelli tweeted a stream of broken heart emoji.

But last night Bertinelli posted a full statement on Instagram, along with a photo of the the Van Halens when Wolf was a baby (see it below.)

In the post, Bertinelli, who starred in TV Land's Hot in Cleveland from 2010-15, wrote:

40 years ago my life changed forever when I met you. You gave me the one true light in my life, our son, Wolfgang.
Through all your challenging treatments for lung cancer, you kept your gorgeous spirit and that impish grin.
I'm so grateful Wolfie and I were able to hold you in your last moments.
I will see you in our next life my love.

Bertinelli has previously written that the couple's marital problems stemmed, in large part, from Van Halen's cocaine addiction at the time (the guitarist announced his sobriety in 2008) and a smoking habit that continued even after his first tongue cancer diagnosis in 2000.

Bertinelli's tribute to Van Halen was one of many that hit social media Tuesday following Van Halen's death from cancer at 65.

He just sounds like he's dead. ;)
I heard a radio interview, I believe with Woody Guthrie's wife, where she stated that Bob and a few others used to try to emulate Woodie. The problem is that by then he was suffering from Huntington's disease and hated that they tried to sound like him.
Alledgedly that's how Dylan got that nasal twang.

Interesting. I'm not a big fan of his voice, but his lyrics are frequently very good. He's a prolific song writer. Google up Bob Dylan songs that he wrote or co-wrote. The list is looooooooong.

Since the subject of B.D. is current (and he's alive)...another great song writer and musician who is the only other surviving member of 'The Traveling Wilburys' is Jeff Lynne who IMO is one of the greatest rock and roll song/music writers ever...right up there with Tom Petty...

For anyone interested I highly recommend the concert video (movie from Showtime) of Jeff's ELO concert at Wembley Stadium...it is one of the best video concerts ever...!!!

here's a taste:

Yes, he's certainly been prolific. I listen to some of his songs although trying to understand them sometimes can be an exercise in confusion. "Tangled up in Blue" comes to mind...
