IMHO, by far, the best live show I致e ever seen is Lyle Lovett. I致e seen him with his big band and you talk about tight.

A Yes concert was truly an experience for me, other than the Beatles, Yes does it for me.

And yes, pun intended, they definitely have their own sound, called heavenly.

Man I wish it would just quit raining and dry up, just once! Oregon with an accent!

I knocked over a bunch of people from Yes and their entourage. :laughing:

Back in the 80's they came into South Bend on a Gulfstream G1. I was directing them to park. They lined up with me. I directed them to stop and the pilot cut the engines before engaging the parking brake. The plane was on a slight incline, and started rolling backwards. I could see the pilot moving frantically in the cockpit, so I ran and grabbed some wheel chocks and tossed one behind the left landing gear. The tire hit the chock, the plane stopped, but was moving backward so fast that the nose wheel came off the ground while the tail dropped to within what seemed like an inch of hitting the concrete.

Slowly the nose wheel came down and the plane settled. They opened the door and let down the stairs and the pilot comes charging out screaming at me yelling something about me telling him to cut the engines before the chocks were in while giving me the "stop" motion over and over. I showed him "this means stop" and "this means cut your engines". I gave you the stop, and you're showing me the stop, so I don't know why your blaming me. The plane isn't damaged..... then the band and some groupie girls start coming off the plane and it was obvious several people had spilled drinks on themselves. They got in a couple limos and left. The pilot told us to clean out the plane and gave us a fuel order.

So we go into the plane, and there's drink cups all over the floor, wet spots here and there, and a styrofoam cooler in the back. We open the cooler and it's full of BBQ ribs, beans, cornbread, green beans, half corn on cobs.... all piping hot and not touched. Well, that plane took a long time to clean out. :laughing: :licking:

I never was a Yes fan. I don't have anything against them, of course, I just don't like that sound. However, I did enjoy their BBQ.

One of the perks of working at the FBO at the airport was Notre Dame used to hold lots of concerts. A couple a month in the ACC basketball arena. Seated about 10,000. When the planes would come in, almost every time, the band manager would come up to us, and ask if we wanted to go to the show. They'd leave free tickets for us at the will-call window. And they were never bad seats. Always 5-6 rows back a few seats off the isle. :thumbsup:

That was of course the day that Buddy Holley died. Lately though, we are losing some of what I would term "our generations" greats. David Bowie, Glenn Fry and a number of actors.

With a leap of faith, I get the feeling that many of the members are more or less my vintage (65)? If so, going back to the crazy days of the late sixties and early seventies, no matter what, we had some great music. Certainly much better than what IMHO is being made today. It seems like rock songs try to hard to cover to many themes, country is for those that cannot make it in the rock world, etc, etc.

Anyway, we are barely into the new year and everyday we hear of someone that once was (or perhaps still is) relavent passing on. RIP

And I believe Ritchie Valenzuela痴 and The Big Bopper. I loved Ritchie Valenzuela痴, even if I can稚 spell. I think it痴 funny the words spell check comes up with.

In the movie, a coin was flipped and the winner got the last seat on the plane while the other guy had to take the bus.

That one is making me feel old. While I enjoyed the band I was never really a fan; yet I feel like I came of age along with Van Halen... and like any male my age, remember when Valerie was one nice looking lady. :cool2:

I woke up from an afternoon nap to see this on Waste-Book. The health rumors have been out there for at least a year. He influenced a lot of players including myself. A neighbor turned me onto VH1 right after it came out. It was way different than what was out there and I liked it. I never saw them in concert but thought about going when they reunited with Roth. I looked at ticket prices and said ehhhh I'll pass.
