During the past fifteen years I have collected three splitters that were homemade 3pth units but each had some design problem....The most I paid was $75 for the best one, a new $200 cylinder for another, the third was a "just get it off my lawn" situation. One is upright and tied to one of my woodsheds, I've added three legs and a lifting point to another and the third is still 3pth only.
Someday I hope to find a pump to mount on my old Wheel Horse rider but for now I just pile some logs in front of a woodshed (I have three, each one about 4 bush cords), cut them into rounds, then bring over the splitter on legs. The biggest rounds get transfered to the vertical splitter and split later
