Telephone Poles

If Time -Warner is footing the bill for this it probably won't take long to free up the poles. However, if you have to wait for a Telco to move off of them you could be very old before that happens. If the poles are still sound they won't be in a hurry to finance moving the cables.

LOL, hydro are changing a bunch of poles near me but Bell's lines are still up there.
A year has gone by and everywhere there are 1 1/2 poles waiting for bell to transfer their lines from the 1/2 to the one.

I have most of the top 1/2's and it makes great kindling. (25 year old air dried cedar)

From what local utility told me they cannot give them away because of toxic material.But if the old ones are laying on your property they are not going to go look for them if they come up missing.

In fact they will be pleased that they disappear as they no longer have to deal with 'toxic disposal'. Big problem solved in their books.
The longer they leave them laying about the the fewer to dispose of.

They put up new poles on my property and left the old ones standing right beside them, as if to say "cut me down and do something good with us"..

They also had about 80' of solid copper ground wire attached.

Same with scrounging anything ASK! Don't delay, ask as soon as you see whatever it is. I have missed to manyi good "picks" by thinking I'll check it out in a few days. Noone around to ask? Call the utility company and do it immediately.
