I have a 2004 TC48DA.
I am ready to change the hydraulic oil and filter.
The current filter on the tractor has hole in the top of it, for I assume a rubber plug. ( this plug is missing from previous owner)
I purchased a new filter from New Holland and it does not come with a new plug. New Holland does not list it as an available part.
Does anyone know where I can get a plug or best way to fabricate one?
Thanks in advance!

It appears that you are correct ! I didnt realize it was a dipstick.
The parts drawing on the New Holland site shows a screw in plug.

thanks for the lead on the correct part !

That is the power steering system.

The main hydraulic system fill port and dipstick is on the rear of the tractor.

I would do a flush after you get the new plug and put the new filter on after the first change.

I have something like that near the engine in my NH tractors but they are reservoirs for the power steering. It is not a filter. I don't know why the reservoir or what you are calling a filter would need to be replaced. The dipstick is what you need.

There's a internal filter in these. It looks just like a tank to hold liquid but is also a filter.
