I have a 2001 TC33D that I'm having some problems with.
The throttle lever is very loose. I feel almost no resistance when I move the lever. When I started the tractor, the engine raced up to about 2200-2300 RPMs. I immediately shut it down. It feels as though the throttle is stuck mostly open, and moving the lever back down is doing nothing. From the feel, it may have some motion in the last bit of travel (From the feel, if I were willing to gun the engine while cold, I could probably take it from the 22-2300 RPM it seems to be set at up to full throttle and back down again.)
Previously, I've had problems with the throttle not staying where I put it: I'll crank it up to 2500 RPM for driving down the road, and the lever will slide back down to 1500-1700 RPM or so. This seemed to me as though some sort of friction device in the throttle needed adjustment. I never opened it up to see what was going on, since the problem was so rare: it would happen repeatedly one day, the for the next several dozen times I used it it was OK, or it only slid back down 100 RPM or so.
So today I experienced the first problem (Throttle seems stuck on high). It happened to me years ago, but that was in very cold temperatures, and the issue stopped once the engine heat got back to the throttle control (or if I aimed a heat gun at that area.)
I'm trying to remove the blue top cover that holds the instrument panel to get a look at the throttle lever. I found all the bolts inside the engine compartment to release the leading edge of it. I can't find what is holding the back edge in place (the part by my knees when driving. Do I have to remove the two black panels on either side down below to access something there?
Also: any tips on what I might need to look at/adjust in the throttle control would be appreciated.
