T5060 brake fluid replacement

Hi all.
I was having an alarm come up which I found to be low brake fluid in the reservoir. I quickly topped it off with dot 4 brake fluid which it took very little of, maybe 250ml/0.06 gal. Reading now, I should have used ambra LHM fluid and that dot 4 brake fluid will wreck the seals.
I can’t find any info on how to replace the fluid and am now worried I’ve wrecked the system in my new to me tractor!!!
Does anybody have any advice on how to go about replacing the brake fluid and bleeding the system?

That would depend mostly on what transpired AFTER the introduction of the DOT 3 and how long it's been in there. I would first remove the lines from the bottom of the reservoir and drain out everything that will come out. If the mixture hasn't actually gotten down into the master cylinders yet you will probably be all right. Maybe rinse the reservoir with some brake cleaner, let it dry, refill with proper New Holland snake oil and you will most likely be good to go. Bleeding may not even be necessary. If it has been there a while, you've used the tractor (and the brakes) much, then that's a slightly different matter.

I put it in there a week ago but I have only moved it from one shed to another which is probably 200 yards. Maybe used the brakes twice but lightly. Trouble is I won’t have the chance to drain it for another week. Do you think it’s ok sitting in there mixed?

I can't make that call. Only you know how much you added. The mixture is indeed toxic to the seals at least to some degree. I doubt it's a serious problem, at least not for the brake piston seals at this point. Whether or not the DOT 3 is heavier than the brake oil and will settle into the master cylinders over a short time I can't say. I will say the longer you leave it in there the greater the chances for problems. Those cylinders aren't cheap.

Thanks Harry. I couldn’t imaging them being cheap. Heck nothing is cheap when it comes to farm equipment.
I’m expecting to have to do a master cylinder overhaul, but I’m praying I can leave the back end alone currently.
