Anyone got a good idea for a non-hydralic post driver? One for a three point, maybe?

I just push them down with the front end loader bucket. Do you have a FEL on your tractor?

Get yourself one of these T-Post drivers:

I put drove in 60 posts in one day with one similar to this.

Got one - unfortunately, bad shoulders, bad back, and shot knees won't allow to much use out of it!

Betcha could hook a gear motor and a cam to one of those.Tink,tink,tink... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Are you trying to drive them from very top? I built a bolt on bracket for bucket lip that fits over post's footpegs. It's a cinch in sandy soil.

Sameas I was thinking - we used to call it a "walking beam" - a linkage deal that ran a well casing driver. It took tension on the weight cable on part of the stroke and released the slack to drop the weight on the rest of the cycle. Purely mechanical, no hydraulics. Sorry, I don't remember the details.

I see by your profile that you have a 460 Farmall. A friend here in NC has one with a post driver on it. I don't know how it works but a lot of beef and dairy farms here use them. It should work on a t-post. It is the narrow front tractor and the driver is mounted on the front.

My 460 is a WFE and I have an after-market 3 point installed. I have the 3 point plumbed so I have downpressure also.
Wish I have the $500 or so to get one of those! Just need to figure out how to build one!

Married? Does she need some exercise? Perhap a workout on her abs?

Hey Gatorboy,
Where do you pick up one of those? Did you find one locally at a fence co. or similar? I'm thinking shipping on one of those babies could be a little hefty.
Thanks

TSC has them, two versions even - standard "rigid" model and a deluxe spring loaded one...

all the big box stores sell 'em too .... I scrounged a heavy weight from somewhere (maybe 25-30 lbs) - round and just a bit bigger dia. than the driver and got it welded to the top - makes it a bit heavy to lift on the up stroke - but easier to drive on the downward stroke when the real work gets done. I have sandy loam with softball size rocks so plentiful that they are literally next to each other wherever you dig - so I need the extra down weight to drive past 'em. ... As I get older - I'm sure thinkin' I need to cobble a way to lift that sucker with my loader - I don't plan on needing one enough to warrant spending the $$ for a hyd one.

Now that is neat. It's the first pneumatic one I've seen. I've often wondered why someone didn't build something like that.

I've a fencing project coming up in April/May of next year with a LOT of T-posts to be driven. We have an old, farm made 35 pound driver that's about 30 years old, somewhat like the ones depicted. It's OK for about a dozen posts or so but after that it starts to be hard work. If you use it all day you better have somebody to feed you etc., because you can't lift your arms above your waist. That compressor driven one looks as if it might be a lot of help. You never know, maybe Santa reads this board and will bring one for Christmas. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I forgot to say thanks for the information and welcome to the board.

I put in about 30 posts about a month ago, closing the front of my pasture up to keep ATV's off of it... Boy am I glad I didn't have to do 60! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That pounder does save some work.. but at the end of the day.. you know you've done something.
