Switch Activated Seat Safety Cutoff (2032R)

I pulled the safety switch off and put a spring clamp on it temporarily. While mowing and see a limb or something you souldn't really mow over, it would be a pain to get off the tractor & then need to restart er up again.

I'm needing to replace my engine due to the safety BS on my tractor. There is a special button to push so you can mow in reverse. Welp...using this safety button the other day made the engine cutout/backfire and bent a valve. The engine had about 550 hrs on it and was burning quite a bit of oil, so it got replaced from 20hp to a 27hp commercial B&S fancy smancy engine.

There’s no option to leave the seat by setting the brake on these machines?
My 1988 JD lawn tractor has a simple plastic connector under the seat, which I unplugged about 2 days after I bought it.

My 2008 I left alone because I let my grandson operate it sometimes. But that engine will stay running as long as the park brake is set and PTO is not engaged.

Disregard the dummies post above:rolleyes:
Ran my mouth prior to watching the video.

Very nice install!

My 1951 Farmall C doesn't have an operator presence switch on the seat...should I install one?

Apparently, if you want to be "safe" or not be sued by someone. If someone wants to disconnect a safety switch (lawyer switch to protect the manufacturer) have at it, most people understand that it's not being used as designed at that point, why does that bother other people so much? Mike did a nice job on the install and video, he seems like he understands that sometimes it may be good idea to be able to turn it back on instead of just jumping it, like most people do. Shutting off or a blade cutout when going in reverse? Thanks, but no thanks, if you're not capable of backing up while mowing without running someone or something over, you shouldn't be able to use anything with a motor. I think we all need to take a break from all the hypersensitivity.....go outside and use your tractor... ;)

My Kubota 3030 was purchased 2nd hand, so I don't know if safety switches have been tampered with or not.

I can get off the seat with it in "gear" (hydro - L-M-H) and it will stay running. However, and I haven't tested this fully. but I believe that if it's "enough" engaged in Forward or Reverse, it Will kill the engine if you get off the seat.

If the PTO is engaged it will shut off. Period. That makes sense to me.

My Massey GC2300, if it's in "gear" (hydro - L-H), if you get off the seat it shuts down. Period. Seems a bit extreme to me, but I haven't (and won't) bother bypassing it.

It's mostly a matter of "situational awareness". When I'm on the M-F I go to N before hopping out, When I'm on the K, I don't.

Well..... some users need unattended pto use for water pumping, generators, etc. not all machines allow it without circumventing the seat switch. My neighbor puts a big rock on the seat when running his generator!
My tractor (by design) circumvents the seat switch for unattended pto use by raising the seat. Like yours, I can get out of the seat with the tractor running and in gear, but touching the hst pedal will kill it.
My ZD mowers have the drive levers, brakes, and pto all tied into safety switches. They are getting unreliable, and actually make operation dangerous. The seat switch in particular likes to shut the engine down while mowing on steep slopes. Oh the irony!

My Branson has no safety switches whatsoever. Wonder why?

BRW, it’s entirely possible to rig a special bypass setup utilizing a timer and a specific type of “crash sensor” switch or two mercury switches in a “V” configuration.

Manufactures have been sued since that woman laid the fuel cap/fuel gauge over the battery terminals on a JD 110 garden tractor . Manufactures have to worry more about lawyers than the owners .

I was listening to a news report the other day that was talking about investing in litigation. There are actually investment funds that focus on funding litigation. That's pretty scary and will just lead to increased costs for all of us.

On my Kubota, you just flip the seat up/forward and the tractor stays running when you dismount with the PTO still running.

The seat switch on our JD 2032R has never been a problem as we use it 3 seasons a year.

The only issue has been when it is about -30C the seat is too stiff to compress the switch. Even planting my 112 kilos in the seat some times takes 2 or 3 bounces to keep the tractor running. I've thought about keeping an old bowling ball in the seat when the tractor is not in use to see if that helps.

My 5 cents of experience.

I tested that today. Doesn't work on mine.

My seat safety switch has a zip tie over it. I was on a job and the steep terrain, even with the seatbelt on, bounced me enough the engine kept trying to cut out. I'm a firm believer in running engine cooldown, prior to shutoff and actually getting work done with tools, so on the zip-tie went. No problems, since.
