I'll get my S-470 Buck parts manual out in the morning and see what it says. Most likely the same size.

My parts manual was not a lot of help. It shows: M1 20.

The nut on my steering wheel is an M23. Do you have a manual?...it should have a steering section. There are 2 different designs and which one used was dependent on it being 2 or 4 wheel drive.

Hmm, this one appears to be closer to a M12, I need to bring my thread gauge home from work. The manual I got with the tractor may show it, if I can find it.
It is 4 wheel drive. I bought this thing a few years ago for I think $500. It was in a garage that burned down around it. Lots of little problems. No plastic or wiring left on it. It even melted the aluminum pistons in the loader cylinders. But it does run and works.

Update,if anyone cares.

The balls in the steering box, the recirculating balls, all came out which caused the loss of steering. The box was full of water and the lower bearing was frozen.
I ordered 5.5mm balls, bearing and shaft seal from McMasterCarr.

I cut off the threaded portion of the shaft that holds on the steering wheel and tig welded a 1/2-13 threaded portion of a bolt to hold the wheel.

All good now I mowed a 1/2 acre yesterday.

So far, so good.

Now to address the blowing batteries up problem.

I know that I'm a bit late but just located my parts manual for MT180,180D and it shows nut item # 25 to be PN A503 0114 001 to be M14
Now you know!
