another great idea incorparated into a PT design.

Thanks to all of you "Old Timers" /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

MossRoad:
It looks like you could lubricate the other end of the steering cylinder by removing a floorboard plate; at least my eyes discern a bolt in the overhead picture on the left side and another one in the side shot. The hoses also appear to be more enclosed and not in the area of the center pivot.

Good eye! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for pointing that out. I guess that would shallow up the foot wells by 2 inches or so. That might be a more comfortable position for most folks. I find the seating arrangement/foot pedal distance just at the right length for my long legs. My daughter is very short and has trouble reaching the pedals even with the seat all the way up.

I happened to have the left foot plate off today. When I saw the end of that steering cylinder, I wondered both why PT didn't tell me to lubricate it and why I hadn't thought to /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

The foot plate is raised about three inches off the bottom with spacers that look a lot like pipes. And long carriage bolts hold it on through the spacers.

I didn't take the other side off. I found what I was looking for and didn't have to. I seemed to have been under the impression that I had two steering cylinders, but my book says I only have one. I'll check tomorrow. I was looking under there for another reason, for which I'll start a new thread.
