Thank you sir!!

Cut and notched 4 of the 6 cross tubes last night.

Cross tubes are on 2.5’ centers

Laid those 4 out this morning…..looking like a bridge!!

Gonna cut and notch the last 2 now.

Did you put gravel or something to keep moisture off the wood supports?
The bridge is going up pretty fast, looks good, thanks for taking us on the ride.

Welding is done!!!

Gonna set a string line on one side.

Results……

Started with a bit of a crown….approx 1/8”

I’d say there’s an 1/8” between the string and the 2x4. 1/4” sag.

I have some 3/8 crane cable….I may make a “u” under each stringer and use a turnbuckle to “arch” the bridge

The traditional metal bridge construction method was to use a truss design. From what I read, much of the strength in a utility trailer has to do with the sidewalls acting like truss members and even there, a single solid rod added as a reinforcing member to the top of the sidewall construction can add to the carrying strength. Also, having some sort of sidewall members on a bridge would seem to add to the safety factor.

I plan on a railing/guardrail of some kind.
