Starter rebuild

I have a Ford 4500 3 cylinder diesel removed bad starter ordered new one from Napa. Napa started my motor three times and then quit. I saved the core to be rebuild. Does anyone know specifically which rebuild kit I should get thanks in advance.

IF there is not a kit available, check locally to see if there is a auto/truck electrical repair shop.... Some places have shops that specialize in starter/generator/alternator repairs....

I would take the starter to a professional rebuilder. See if one of these is near to you in Washington State.

Is the starter motor bad or did the solenoid quit?
Lucas and Hitachi were the majority of starters that Ford used, but could be a Bosch or Magneti Marelli

I found a new starter and solenoid for 155$ and new solenoid and complete brush kit to rebuild old core armature good total 90. Starter is in ,working great.new harness new switch with key had new injector pump. I’m into it about 2500 now very happy

Was in hurry so got a replacement starter and solenoid for 155$ great so far 10 starts. Found kit waiting for delivery to rebuild core brushes were fried .brush kit and solenoid 95. On to gauge cluster and couple leaky hydraulic hoses ,a fifty foot paint and she is going to work thanks great group. Replaced seats high back off Silverado and one of my boat seats comfy 70$ will be posting pics not a show horse a work horse
