Has anyone ever used Springfield brand of R-1 tires. I have been pricing new ag tires and these are by far the cheapest. I got a best price of $225 per tire for 12.4/24 8 ply. That includes the mounting. Every other brand is at least $100 more per tire. Are these tires junk or what. I had two different tire dealers tell me they are decent tires. Any opinions????? Thanks, Jack

I have been looking for some and I didn't know you could still get them? I have one Springfield tire on my NAA (R1, 23* tread) and have been looking for another to match it, 12.4-28. Seems like a good tire, certainly has much better traction than the long-bar/short-bar tire on the other side.

I went ahead and bought the tires today. Couldn't beat the price. 2 tires with new tubes mounted for $506 out the door. Dealer claims he sell a lot of them. I know he had two other sets to mount after mine. Jack

Yes as tyres go they are junk but it depends what you want from a tyre . On a main field tractor running seeders and such where compaction/ground pressure and wheelslip is vital $1500 for a good tyre is money well spent but i put 8x 18.4 38 springfield's on my old 1975 steiger last year which only runs a scraper and bush clearing work for $700 each fitted ..time will tell ?
For a light app like a 14.9 24 non driven on the rear of a combine i find they'l last as good as anything !
