Tractor
JD 2210
I was driving by the JD dealer in Northfield, Minnesota today and they had two little tractors with loaders sitting in the front corner of the lot looking lonely in the snow. I knew the 2305 immediately - equiped with a loader and rear snowblower - but assumed the other next to it to be a 2520 at least. So I swung in and spotted the number 2320 on the hood... I walked around in the snow admiring the 2320. I did not sit on it as the poor thing was covered in snow and ice. Man it looks HUGE sitting next to a 2305! Looks almost like a real tractor. I noted that the top of the ROPS towers above me and it's a good thing it can be folded. It was hard to believe that both tractors were wearing the same loader, the 2320 sitting so much higher. Note the twin brake pedal and the position control, NICE! Anyone out there needing christmas ideas??? Hint hint PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE! Santa bring me one of those! (sorry, I do wish I'd had my camera)

PS: Santa, I wonder if those guys that designed those stupid rubber bumpers under these seats have ever operated these machines on real world ground?? Can't JD afford real springs?

Kenny,
the only thing that really scares me is the center of gravity diff. I have a pretty steep hill to cut and the 2305 already makes me a little nervous, more so than the lt150 it replaced...just an observation based on my uses, I know you don't have a hill to deal with

the higher CG issue is a good point. While my 2210 clings like Spiderman to the side of the road ditch out front I wouldn't dare try it with a taller machine. Which is why when Santa brings my new 2320 monday night I'll keep the 2210 just for mowing that ditch. <:O)

You Are only talking About 2.5 inches more ground clearance Plus The 2320 Is wider than the 2305 & 200 Lbs Heavier not including The Massive 54 d deck or 62d That is a factor !

TRUE, but consider the higher seat and the weight of the operator.... and we're just speculatiing. Let's just say we don't know which is more stable, the 2305 or the 2320. Put it this way; my 2210 is almost 4 years old and assuming the jolly fellow fulfills my wish I wouldn't want to risk the NEW toy, okay? Merry Chistmas to all!!! And a Happy New Deere!!! err, YEAR!

I can't speak for the 2320 but I can for the 2520. In comparison to the 2305, the new 2520 feels much more stable on the steep slopes. Extra weights hung off the front, and a RFM hanging off the back, it feels a lot better than the 2305 with a 62C deck hanging from the belly.. just MHO.

For example.. on one spot on my ditch, I had to go really really slow with the 2305 due to the slope. If I stopped on this spot and moderately rocked the tractor from side to side, I could feel it sway. Without a doubt, it would tip if I rocked hard enough. On the same spot with the 2520, it feels PLANTED.. it generally feels like it would take a lot more force for it to start to sway and finally start to tip. This has given me a much greater sense of confidence when cutting on steep slopes.

I drove both the 2210 and 4010 before deciding on the 4010. The 4010 is like the 2320 but with the same height ROPS as the 2210 had. The 4010 ROPS just fits underneath my garage doors, both the overhead doors in front and dual, side-opening doors down below. That was a real plus, but I'd have to go with the 2320 if given the choice today because I need the extra ground clerance and not have that hydro fan and cooler underneath like it is on the 2305.

Would like to have the postion control and new hood design on my 4010.

My 4010 seems a little tippy. Don't think the 2210 was any better in this aspect. Just need plenty of ballast out back and avoid dropping into holes on downhill side or going over humps on uphill side and go very slowly on any, even slightly, across hill runs.

I agree The 2320 Are about the Same asFar as Frame & differetial s & height really only difference is The Diesel engines ! I compare Tha width of the 2320 & the 2520 There is only 1.6 " in Width difference I thank it will handle cutting a 40 degree angle with ease But I always make sure the ground is dry ! Take care thanks for the feedback ! kvjohndeere

Hope you guys holding the fort in Eastern Dixie get some wet stuff. Have had plenty out here in the western frontier (West Texas) of our beloved Southland.

Like the fella in Northfield, I saw a 2305, 2320, and 2520 sitting side by side at a dealership. Had been mulling over the 2305, but being able to sit on each machine made my mind up in a hurry--at least about eliminating the 2305. Went with the 2320 just due to price difference--reading all the threads makes me wonder I shouldn't have gone 2520, bit I really like the 2320 so far so all is well.

On a side note, if the James boys could hit Northfield again, I would ride with them if they would agree on taking the JD house instead of the bank!!!
Just kidding.

I regularly mow a 20 degree side slope with my 2520 and haven't rolled it (yet). Actually, it feels stable to me in that situation which was a relief.

My dealer suggested that the R4 tires help a litte on the stability too, becauses of their more "square-shouldered" cross-section, as opposed to the more rounded R3's. Don't know if it really makes a diff., but it works for me.

He couldn't get his ride started. I heard he was using an old, beat up F150 this year....
