Yep, that's how to break it.

He almost went for a ride. If that thing had popped out while the front of the tractor was on top of it he'd have destroyed the tractor at best.

Buy a ******* chainsaw.

Not with MY tractor.

For some strange reason noobs to tractors tend to think that because there is a bucket on the front they are operating a bulldozer...see it all the time...!

Nope  wouldn't been good if roots pop up into engine area or pine twisted while pushing with frontend of tractor that high off the ground.

Every dealer needs to show this video to new tractor owners on what a front end loader is not designed to do.

Back in 2009 I added a STOLL FEL to my little 1720 New Holland. The salesman who delivered the tractor told me it was not a bulldozer. I pointed to the D4D dozer and 941B loader sitting in the field. I told him I had a dozer. He sorta grinned.

Pop told me years ago a FEL is made to lift. We use them to dig and push now and wonder why they break. A little pushing is OK. Pushing down trees where the tractor has to mount the tree like a bull riding a heifer...no.

Somebody should have purchased lottery tickets on that day. Notice that white cross in the background? A previous "cowboy" that tried the same stunt.

Did anybody scroll down and read the comments. Everybody is praising the tractor operator for pushing the tree down with the loader and snowflaking on anybody that mentions using a chainsaw, or what he did was unsafe.

Yes, I saw the comments. Ignorance was rampant on that day and at that location. Darwin will eventually resolve this situation.

At least he (his family) had a video when the lawsuits start.

I don't see it as overtaxing his equipment. Granted, he's taking it closer to limits than "normal", but it's not like he's hitting a concrete curb with his bucket at 5mph. Yep, a stick could of went through oil pan, more likely root ball would lift tractor by front axle.
I see the biggest danger in that a widow-maker may come down and crack his skull when shaking the tree, or worse yet, it could dent in his hood. Granted, maybe less likely on a healthy looking conifer tree than a dead hardwood.
He's also lucky that when pushing it away that tree didn't bow then snap back right up the loader arms into his lap before he could stop, or worse yet, rip out a hydraulic line.

I can't believe the comments I'm reading here. Tractors are made to be used. Enough said!

Tractors are not completely idiot-proof (thankfully). Just because it can doesn't mean you should. There are mechanical stresses which can be induced that were not intended to be be accommodated by the equipment's design. Things will bend and twist if the operator simply fiddles with the controls with no mind toward some basic principles of physics. As merely one example, when he is carrying away the tree, the fact that the rear wheel opposed to the majority of the load is coming off the ground is pretty good indication of a substantial imbalance being placed on the loader frame and associated cylinders.
