I don't know how many of you use salt on your driveways. I always use a little bit up by the house and on the sidewalk to the front door. It seems like the salt they sell for this is over priced. You can get a 40lb back of solar salt for less than $10. It comes in the blue bags and some of it is just the right size and sometimes its a little coarse, but you can't beat the price.

Also if you have a water softner, you don't have to worry about what to do with it over the summer.

I've been using that too. I also use Urea(furtilizer) on our gravel. Haven't bought it in years, but you got to be carefull if your near the water, cause it'll kill the fish. Since I live on a mountain I don't worry about it. Urea I think is about 10-15 dollars for a 50 lb bag.

I'm buying 80# bags of Solar Salt for my water softener and paying $8.50 a bag.
I use Bacardi to melt my ice !! :)
