Speaking of bribery there is a carbon dioxide pipeline proposed in this area, extending from Iowa to the Springfield Illinois area. Most people are against it and the county board passed a resolution against it. The pipeline company then offered the county money over a several year period that amounts to millions of dollars. The county is then obligated to support and help the project.
I helped kill a bill in the legislature a few sessions ago from a pipeline company wanting to dispose of CO2 in depleted oil fields. The objection was not to the method or the act but because they wanted to write into statute what they would pay landowners.

When I drive to Philly or Baltimore, you notice the ports have ships pouring in from China & other parts of Asia.
Virtually all industry in MY area has been plowed under and turned into more retail stores selling electronics and other imported stuff.
At least 50% of our railroad tracks have been turned into bike trails populated by soy boys on their bikes.
Most people like it, judging from the local and national election results.

I think it’s too much dependence on Chinese Energy products, electronics, and pharmaceuticals.
The only reason you are buying Chinese Products is because industry moved their manufacturing offshore. The general public‘s only involement was product purchasing!!
By the way; those soy boys, probably have resting heart rates of just over 50, BP pressures of 160/60 or so, can see their shoes and have BMI within very acceptable range.
The soy boys do like pasta, ice cream and large hamburgers and don’t have to count calories.

Well, gee wiz, I didn’t know that!!! :ROFLMAO:
I think the bigger issue is WHY did they move offshore? Most people with a modicum of intelligence understand that manufacturers locate in places where taxes are low, regulations are reasonable, and labor is cheap. THAT is why they MOVED offshore.

I have a resting heart rate in the low 60’s, a 120 over 70 BP and can see my shoes very easily. My BMI is under 15%. I’m in excellent shape for my age. I can still exercise, lift weights, swim or jog.

Anyone with the proverbial modicum of intelligence would notice that by and large we Americans have priced ourselves out of the market. Many of these manufacturing jobs were union, and between the ever increasing pay & benefits and tight work rules it finally got so that going overseas was the only way to be competitive price-wise. In the first half of the 20th century many of these jobs were filled by recent immigrants, but those days are mostly gone.

And exactly how does this harm or even effect you? Are you the dress code police now?
Seems a pretty minor thing to get your panties in a bunch over.

So why complain about offshore purchases and manufacturing. The common vote should produce elected representatives that favour at home industry, not foreign production. That common vote includes yourself.

An ignorant comment!

East Coast gets a lot of rain and that means cloudy days all year. Decreases amount of sunlight so less electricity. All the comments have given me many things to ponder on do I really want to partner (help cleaning up and maintaining) in a solar farm. Until something new taking less input than is created whether wind, sun, magic or new ways of heating people, houses and so on they all have bad to horrendous effects. Hay Dude at least they would have an ocean to swim in. Maybe figuring out whether JD spool lever is part of a 3 lever controller or it can be taken apart going under only that control will do some good. Once city/county and up sees income their way with no immediate liability it happens. Maybe the best way is to grass roots the meetings and demand set backs are adhered to along with 'eyesore' mitigation. I know it bugs me when jet and private aircraft traffic is going over and its noise. No luck on asking airport about moving it just 1/2 mile E or W so it is over 10s of thousands acres that no one lives on. Good luck with your issue and it may be the only thing you can do is vote the rats out.

Just learned our close by Solar Farm was voted down by the county supervisors. Final nail.

"Not in accordance to the comprehensive plan". "In contradiction to preserve farmland and open space".

I don't think it will be appealed. Further.

The parcels have sat vacant for years, they have not been "farmed". I think the county took the "open space" route to squash the developer. Too bad for the land owners, they don't "farm" anymore and I doubt they will be "farming" any time soon.
