Just moved to the country in May, so on a well and water treatment system. The water is "soft', or kinda slippery/greasy. At times we can taste quite a bit of salt in the water, even through the filtration system on the fridge.

I'm planning on taking some samples into a "water place', but wondering if anyone has experienced the same type of water and what was done to remedy the situation?

I take it you have a water softener?

You are not supposed to be able to taste the salt too much in softened water. It will feel slick on your skin. Many new dishwashers require it (ask me, our old one broke and our new one which is energy efficient doesn't do nearly as good as the old one).

Perhaps your softener needs a tune up?

Sounds like your softener (if you have one) is shot! You should never taste salt in your water! If you don't have a softener, you are too close to the ocean!
