The picture I attached was just representative of the situation, something I had in my files from last winter. Some times the entire blade will be covered with a half foot of snow or better - depends on temp, etc.

Skent had some good observations and comments on the situation. My problem is not all that serious, but what happens is that I forget to shovel off the blade at times and the snow drops off the blade onto the garage floor leaving a wet mess.

We've had an annual snow fall of up to 300", so you end up plowing frequently, sometimes every day for a week or more and the large City Oshkosh 4WD plows may push up a berm of heavy wet snow across your driveway every night.

Snow sticking to the blade is more of an inconvenience then a problem, but I've learned so much from the many good heads on this board, that I don't hesitate to ask a question - value all input.

Sounds interesting, will put it on my list of "Thing to Try".

Ahhh, the inconvenience of a wet garage floor /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
My pole barn sits well away from my driveway and if I want to use the tractor at all during the winter I need to leave it out or it will be snowed in. Hopefully some day that will be rectified and I will have to wax my blade, too. At least I will know what to do after reading these posts.

I was once concerned about this type of thing and still try not to do anything stupid like pour a 1/2 quart of motor oil on my property ( I know people who do this). The kicker for me was when I found out that airports dump millions of gallons of ethylene glycol into the environment every year. they use it for de-icing planes. This is common anti-freeze and drinking only a couple ounces is lethal. Can a few squirts of wd-40 be all that bad after hearing that? A college prof I had called this the "pee in the pool" theory. If one person pee's in a swimming poll its no big deal, if everyone does it you've got a cesspool.

Good one - gave me a chuckle. You are right, everything must be put into proper prospective to have any relevance. Heavy snow predicted for wednesday, so can start the unscientific snow stick vs no snow stick test. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
