snow plow cylinder source

I have a old 78" Meyer snow plow I am attaching to the front of my JD loader with skid steer attachment. I doesn't have any hydraulic cylinders and would like to add. I already have the front hydraulic lines on the loader. It has the bracket for the cylinder on both sides with a 20.5" spacing in the middle position (17" closed and 25 1/4" open). Any ideas for source or type of cylinder? Is one dual acting cylinder OK or do I have to have 2 single acting cylinders?

I have an old Meyer plow that had two single acting cylinders. You can go with those or you can use one double acting cylinder. I think you can get replacement cylinders at Surplus Center or Northern Tool on-line. You can use one that is a bit shorter stroke, but if you use one that is a bit longer stroke, you could bend the plow or brackets.

Meyer's uses SA cylinders, 1 1/2" x 10" on the smaller plows, and 1 1/2" X 12" on the larger plows.

Ok, now have another question. How are the hoses run to the cylinders if I use 2 one-way clinders? I have 2 couplers on the tractor. Does each cylinder just get one hose?

That's exactly correct. As one cylinder expands it forces the opposite cylinder to retract. A simple system that actually works.
