Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Snow Is Coming!!!

Sounds like your going to have a real mess there in NS when that slush freezes.

Actually doesn't look too bad, Jim - the temps are supposed to be at or around freezing for the next week.

Well, it looks like the snow just finished up here (3PM, +/-), but the wind seems to have picked up again. I went out around 1PM and tackled heavy stuff, then back an hour later to "clean up"... problem is, it snowed another 4" while I was warming up... Right now I'm waiting for the wind to shift to the west....

We had a good, solid 18", but quite a bit more where it drifted, coming over the top of the blower.

But the GC handles it!:D

Here it is 9:00am and raining like h^&* on the 6 or 7" of snow we had through the night, it's got it beat down to almost nothing now. What am I going to do now? :confused2:

Steve

Same up here, Steve - 6-8" of snow is now 5-6" of slush everywhere. Power was out for 9 hours from 5 am today, no plows on my dirt road, but it's passable - as you drive over the slush you get down to the road surface. Another 10-20 cm predicted for overnight. We're lucky not to have received the wind too.

Same here and what a mess. I clear two private gravel lanes (roads) totalling about a KM and was up at 5 this morning when the snow changed to rain and decided instead of blowing to let the rain wash it away, big mistake. After a mid morning hockey tournament it was clear something had to be done so headed out around noon. These blowers are not the most efficient method of removing 4-5 inches of water over a very soft gravel base so augmented that a little by pushing some of the soup with the rear blade of the boxblade. All I can say is this stuff really sucks and perhaps a front blade is in my near future.

That won't be too bad, it is 14dF here, and falling, with 45mph winds and I figured that was heading your way.

The white stuff is here too:thumbsup:I've been waiting for it to get here and I love it .We have about 14" and I just got out of work, now play time:cool2:. This is what I got my cab for , not much better then, work lights, alittle heat , sweetshirt and a cup of coffee with some Alison Krause to get you in the mood to push snow:thumbsup: You know you love your tractor when you start looking at your neighbors drive way and want to sneak over and do it ( even if you don't like them:D) Thought about putting my chains on the other day but got picking up stuff that I might hit pushing snow , instead . We'll put her to the test tonight without them:D

Hi all,

Yesterday was my first snow test of my bestest Christmas Gift EVER!!! OMG she was amazing!

At 3600 RPM she was able to throw snow 40' The trick to getting distance is quanity of snow. It takes about 5 passes to clear off the driveway. So I angle the discharge into the next pass so each pass became more and more packed. Then I raised the discharge and reved the engine!

The sad part is I broke Rule #17: Never plow snow more often then needed. Unfortunatly I had to drive to Maine last night so I had to leave the blizzard behind. But there was no way I was going let my wife test the snowthrower before I did.

I've never had the chance to use a snowblower , but I never new you had to run at such high RPM's . So I take it that this has to run well over the 540 pto like some pto implements?
Is this the norm ,to run RPM's that high?

My guess is he is running a walk behind snow blower. All your little motors on things like that, mowers, generators, ect run at 3600 rpm.

Reporting from centarl Maine....Blizzard conditions on the way home from work today. The fields were all blowing and visibility was near zero at most times. I am guessing we got 8 to 10 inches with lots of deeper drifts. The wind has been viscious. No power for the first hour that I was home. Still a light snow but the wind cries Mary.!!

The new Frontier SB1164 performed flawlessly for about 50 minutes, just enough to punch a hole out my driveway and my neighbors. The 3pt. snowblower is almost silent when it is up to speed @ 2600rpm. Very impressive, smooth operation. The wind was blowing hard so it had a negative effect on how far the blower was actually throwing the snow. In one spot about 40' wide the snow was getting knocked down by the wind. No problem to blow the snow twice and I doubt I will have to in "normal" conditions.

Tomorrow I get to shape and clean up the 2 driveways and I will try to post up some pictures.

 On The Blower.!!!! Best rig I've had in 20 years of snowblowing.:D

8"-10" here, although hard to tell exactly because of the high winds and drifting... Glad you guys are having so much out there playing in this stuff - I'm sick of it already!

Diamond,

I was referring to the engine RPM not the PTO.

I might be wrong but I think the pto spins faster while under load at higher RPM.
