With the tractor OFF!! , turn the motor ( dual chain drive) by hand and check to see what turns up front.

tractorwookie,

Also waiting for answer to what robstaples wrote.

Also, That Hyd. Guage.................... the position that bar guage is showing ................. I see the arrow cast into the case if you follow the line is it hiding a "return" low pressure filter by chance?

Gotta see if that pump is worn out.................... it is a 540 system but was advised to run it at 1000............... hummmmm.

With the tractor off I went and I turned the motor dual chain drive, which correct if I'm wrong is this part IMG_3168.jpg, When I spun turned that both the auger and the fan spun.

As for the intank filter I took more pictures because I figured the pictures are worth a thousand words. I took pictures of the filters and something just behind the motor connecting the two lines, I don't know if this is just to stabilize the lines or this is a bypass. It's the picture with my hand in it.

My next request is to get the model and manuf of the motor. The one you turned with the double chains. From that and your impeller size ( diameter and depth) ,we Can estimate required rpm. Then measure actual rpm in a test.
The hydraulic equipment I'll leave to someone else.

tractorwookie,

The suction line comes out of the lower right side of the tank w/ 90 Elbow and through the yellow handled Shut off. then another elbow. Under the tank it changes to 1" id. flex hose and does a 270* and enters the bottom of the pump which is under the tank. The pump has its High Pressure output plumbed back to the right side and splits with a H.P. relief. The relief goes to the return thru the curved 90*. The return comes from the motor and goes up top and thru the top/ tank mounted filter which looks like a suction filter (it isn't). So far it is all good. Now the H. Pressure line goes to one side of the Hyd. Motor and the other side is the L.P. return we've already talked about. I don't see a "case drain line" although it could be hidden by the snow. But, it is not relevant to this anyway. This so far is fairly well engineered for what it is made to do. Finger/hand pic. Probably is a relief valve between the motor H.P. line and the motor return L.P. line that will become a point later once we get these current questions answered.

1. Is it possible the "yellow handle S. O. is partially closed? It looks open by the handle position but?

2. The very large return filter actually looks screened like many suction filters................ other than that filter not doing a 10 micron job it wouldn't cause the problems for the O.P.

3. Does that pressure gauge read anything when this pump is being rotated say >400 rpm? Or, is it frozen/stuck in place?

4. Dip sticking this tank................. what is the level of UTF in there? How clean and clear looking (ie non milky) is the UTF and HOW MUCH IS IN THAT TANK ???

5. When it is being run is the auger running in the correct motion to bring the snow to center and is the propeller turning the right way to loft the snow up the chute funnel?
Thinking the H.P. line is swapped with the return and it is being run backwards.
........... or the motor is worn.................

6. It takes a running/working power pac to warm up the UTF then shut down and check the plumbers 3/4" pipe T* on BOTH reliefs ................ either one could be cracked open and leaking off needed pressure psi. (It'll be slightly warm) DO NOT DO THIS OR ANY OTHER WORK WHILE THE POWER PAC / BLOWER IS RUNNING!!!

Need the above answered: then decide whether the pump is worn...... or the motor is worn. Or not. Or that "Relief" is leaking and shorting the motor to low pressure.

Hard to tell with all the snow on the pics.... But my unit has a filter system just like yours. Those hyd filters cost about $150 each...so dont damage it.

Mine has a 1-1/2" id line from the lower hyd tank to the lower end of hyd pump, and a smaller 3/4" ID" line on the pressure side of pump. All lines to front of tractor are 3/4" ID lines.

Can i ask, what is the HP of the tractor and the pto HP if known. On my unit the min required pto HP was 30 HP, Im pumping 15 GPM at 3,000 psi to operate my unit. Larger GPM pumps required larger HP rear pto's. Yor really need to find out the output of the pump some how. are their any numbers or brand stamped on it??

It hardly ever gets clogged up, and will generally blow dry snow over 40' and wetter snow about 20-25 feet.

When snow gets soggy, i use the plow. No blower, incl a PTO unit will blow soggy snow worth a ****.

I guess the only way you can test the pump is with a set of gauges... or to remove it and take it to a hydraulic shop.

My pump is HUGE...very heavy thing. i almost hate to have to install and remove the thing.
Also, have you tried this unit on the other tractor (the 42HP) you mentioned??

HERE SOME PICS OF MINE
