Snake identifying help

I found this creature slithering in my garage Saturday and as small as it is, got my attention real good, I'm thinking it's a baby and more around, should I worry about this little guy and his parents? did I mention I am not a snake lover at all, please see pictures and we live in Northeast, Florida

Check out this link. It has a couple of photo's that resemble your snake, but, I can't tell exactly. Yours may be a juvenile version of one listed.

The corn snake sports a lot of variations in color and mottling, but has that basic color, etc. I'd say it's not poisonous and most likely benefical to have around.
Disclaimer: I'm not a snake expert, in fact, or by any stretch of the imagination.

I don't know what it is, but it is not poisonous. No need to worry. Folks around here would call it a corn snake or a rat snake.

I agree with N80. It is a member of the Rat Snake family which includes Corn and Fox Snakes. That one looks like a Corn Snake They are really good mousers/ratters as well as climbers. They can be quite pugnacious if you try to get up real close and personal and they waggle their rear end when really mad. They will rear up and bite and trust me it hurts . There is still ongoing discussion between our "city slicker" friends and my wife and I as to who caught who during my last interaction with a Rat Snake. Our friends have never come back . Jay

That snake is called a " SLITHERING GARAGE SNAKE.".... Not harmful....... But their parents are capable of changing color and shapes to avoid detection !! They make themselves look like a seat cover, or a socket wrench, some times even a diesel can.. Just be careful where you sit, or what you pick up! But don't worry too much!

if it's near water at all, it MAY be a banded water snake - common here in SC. But more than likely it's a corn or rat snake.

harmless, but ANY snake can scare you to death.
