Slow hydraulics

When it's very cold, tractor hydraulics are very slow until unit has warmed up for several minutes. Is there a simple cure for this, other than letting tractor run for 10 or 15 minutes to warm up?

If your drop rate control valve (sets the rate of flow for the lift cylinder) is set where you like it when the tractor is at operating temperatures I'd say no. An engine block heater does aid in warmup. I let my tractor warm up until I see the temperature gauge starting to register in the operational range.

I have a block heater and a hydro heater on my Deere 4100. They work well. I plug them in for about an hour when it is below freezing (it can get to -40 although I don't use the CUT then.) By the way, the hydro heater fits where the screen was and is easily accessible. I unplug the cord right at the hydro heater so no 110v cord to get in the way during use.

I am using a 250 watt glue on heater on the HST/hydraulic tank and i have noted a MAJOR change in how fast everything operates and sounds. I also only heat it for 1-2 hours prior to using it (its on a timer)

Depending on your tractor model there may be a option for lower weight (thinner) oil.

I believe JD, Kubota & Possibly CNH all have multiple fluids depending on where you live.
