Slime.

MY dealer put slime in my R4 tires before I picked it up. My question is, when you check the air pressure, does the slime foul the reading? Will it get into my tire gauge?

Why take any chances. Make sure your shrader Sp? valve is pointing up by moving the tractor before you read pressure. I reckon it can easily gum up the air valve seat.

I reckon it would goo up a pressure gauge as well. Ditto on turning the tire 'til the valve is at 12 o'clock. May even want to press the valve stem in once before putting the gauge on, just to blow out any slime that might be on the valve.

What pressure do you run in the R4s? I just keep mine as soft as I can without sidewall bulge...The front get aired up whenever they look soft with a full bucket of sand.

Be careful, you can push the tire off the bead if there to low with a load in the bucket

The manual for the Gempler's version of slime (I run Ultraseal bulletproof grade in all 4 tires of my Kub L-39) recommends that you blow a little air into the valve before putting a pressure gauge on. If you don't, then the pressure gauge willl foul-up for sure.

Incidentally, I bought the 5-gal pail of Ultraseal, and the aluminum pump to go with it. Sliming one's own tires without having to release the air is a dream come true. Since the L-39 only took around 3.5 gallons, I've used most of the rest in hand trucks, garden carts, the 4-wheeler, and any other low-speed tire that sits still long enough. So far, no flats or even slow leaks in any, despite a property just covered up in hawthorne and black locust.
