Im just saying it can be done when you have experience.
I guess some people have all the money in the world for all the attachments they need and some people just seem to make do with what they have.

Well the old timers dug them by hand. That doesn’t mean I’m doing that either. And digging stumps is a good way to be buying more buckets cylinders. A skid steer will survive but a tractor loader isn’t as durable.

They also used horses and ox to help pull them out, but I’m not doing any of that lol
I‘m not one to run out and drop a ton of money on equipment to dig out a couple trees a year if I can do it with what I have and my experience. If what I don’t have won’t do it, rentals make so much more sense than owning.

I could have 100 percent of my money back from this in a week or less. A rental is like $350 a day plus tax and delivery.

Depends on the skill of the operator. I remove stumps all the time with a standard bucket.
Give yourself some more seat time and you might be able to someday, too.

Some of them are in steep places, too steep to get to on the tractor. Yeah, I've taken some out with the FEL.

Backhoes are nice on steeper ground since they can be leveled with their stabilizers. Once in place, they can still dig like a champ.
Maybe that’s your ace in the hole for the task?

Well first you dig a hole under the stump and then you buy some fertilizer and diesel fuel..Just kidding!

I’ve Had skid steers, and now a CTL for almost fifteen years, and have pulled a lot of stumps with them.. It’s a lot easier, and quicker to use the mini ex, even a small one.

Plus, it’s easier on the machine.

Almost as good as "Life is easier when you plow around the stumps"

Depending on your machine "aptitude", I wouldn't plan on any productivity with your project on the first day.
Rent an mini ex if you want to "play". I kinda favor your hire it out option, at least for this hilly project.
