My Grandfather and great grandfather cleared their 160 acres of logged over white pine stumpage with horses and a little dynamite in the early 1900s.

I've got a neighbor who still did that occasionally up to a bout 10 years ago. This rural area has become citified over the years and people freak out.

Backhoes are nice on steeper ground since they can be leveled with their stabilizers. Once in place, they can still dig like a champ.
Maybe that’s your ace in the hole for the task?

Yeah, but you have to get there first. Some stumps are where I just cannot get the tractor to them.
